The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy hosted a seminar for Mr. Park Sung-lim, the TFD’s Dissertation Fellow, on April 14, 2021 from 14:30-16:00 at the TFD’s office in Taipei.
Mr. Park Sung-lim’s presentation is entitled ‘The impact of Democratization on the Inter-Korean Relations and Cross-Straits Relations in 2016-2018,’ the overall seminar was moderated by Dr. Hao Yeh, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, National Chengchi University, while Dr. Chao-Chi Lin, from the same University and Department, was invited as the seminar's discussant.
Mr. Park Sung-lim has made extensive research regarding international relations in East Asia and how democracy has historically impacted countries such as Korea and Taiwan. He discusses how in recent years the overall situation might be affected by the United States, Europe and China, and further observes how democracy has responded to important historical turning points at different levels of comparisons, constructing structural factors from both theoretical and real events.
